Now Offering Telemedicine Services at Trauma Healing Centers

What is Telemedicine?

Telemedicine uses technology to provide patients with access to health care providers from the comfort of their own homes. Telemedicine appointments provide patients with access to the same services as regular face-to-face appointments with physicians; however, as opposed to a face-to-face meeting, the physician or healthcare professional and the patient interact through videoconferencing on the Internet.

What are the Benefits?

There a variety of benefits associated with telemedicine services. Telemedicine provides patients with convenient and accessible care from dedicated physicians that the patients may not otherwise be able to receive. Telemedicine services help to treat patients who are unable to leave their residence due to diagnoses, transportation, or distance from a local clinic or healthcare provider. Each appointment is private and confidential, and the physician that patient’s speak with is on a safe and secure network. Finally, the telemedicine process is relatively simple. Each patient receives proper instructions, which allow him or her to quickly and easily set up his or her appointment.

How does our Telemedicine Process Work?

All telemedicine patients must have a referral from a physician. You can learn more about our referral process here. If you are a veteran with a pensionable condition, you do not require a referral; however, filling out the referral form allows us to understand more about your medical history.

Outlined below is the telemedicine process at Trauma Healing Centers:

  1. If you are interested in our telemedicine services, contact us by calling our toll free number 1-844-429-6074 and selecting Ontario (option 5) or Newfoundland (option 6) or by emailing thull@traumahc.com.
  2. Once you have expressed interest in our telemedicine services, we will send you a Telemedicine Services Package that contains our referral form, as well as other important documents.
  3. After completing the Telemedicine Services Package, return it to Trauma Healing Centers by using our toll free fax number found at the top of the referral form.
  4. One of our dedicated physicians will review your Telemedicine Services Package, and if approved, we will contact you to begin the process of setting up your telemedicine appointment.

Our telemedicine services are offered through the Ontario Telemedicine Network. Once your appointment is scheduled, you will receive two emails that outline instructions for installation and what to expect on the day of your appointment. Patients have access to our support through each step of this process.

What do I need to Receive Telemedicine Services?

To receive access to telemedicine services you will need a computer that has Internet access and webcam ability. In addition, you must have Internet Explorer 11 as well as uninterrupted computer access on the day of your appointment.
